Ode to the Pin-Up Girl

Technically, a Pin-Up Girl is a glamorous gal whose photo/picture is meant to be "pinned-up" on a wall. I think Betty Grable is probably the most popular pin-up ever, but my favorite has to be Ms. Cassandra Rosebeetle.

My favorite Pin-Up Gal EVER!

A few months ago I had a request to make a custom Pin-Up Gal Journal. Johanna loves pink and wanted to add lots of journaling and vintage family photos to the journal. She sent me a copy of a page from an old Pin-Up Girl Calendar for inspiration, so I decided to go with a stripes and vintage black photo corner theme.

Adorable pets were often added to make the calendars both cute and sexy!

I added journaling cards in pink, purple and yellow.

All in all there are over 35 tags for photos and journaling.

This is one of my fattest journals ever!

I loved making this journal and hope that Johanna loves it as much as I do. If not, it's going up for sale at Inside The Beehive. If I can bear to part with it. Do you love Pin-Up Gals? Or are you one?

An Early Merry Christmas!

Although I love custom orders on Etsy, my love often turns to stress when I have a short deadline to get it to the buyer. On the other hand, I love custom orders on Etsy when I have an absurd amount of time to get the item (s) to the buyer.

A lovely, wonderful repeat buyer recently asked me to make 5 Custom Mini Comp Notebooks. I was thrilled with the order but when she wrote me that there was absolutely no rush because she wanted them as gifts for Christmas 2014, I was just over the moon.  No mistake here folks, she ordered them 10 months in advance.

Now, I knew I had lots of time to make these babies but due to a lost crown, the tooth kind, not the princess/queen kind, and a day off from work, I was able to finish up this custom order in time for a very early Christmas celebration.

#1. Artist's Choice!

#2. Shabby Prim. I used some of my retro inspired Kaisercraft.

#3. This gal loves wine so I
made her a Mini Wine Tasting Notebook.

#4. Hope this gal purrs when she gets her gift.

And #5. This was made for a gal who loves jewelry.
I wonder if she ever saw Breakfast at Tiffany's?

Just wanted to let you know that I am currently taking orders for Christmas 2014, 2015 and 2016.

Weirdo

Yesterday there was a thread on the Etsy forum asking what was the weirdest thing you had ever made? I answered that my Mourning Journal was mine.

Today I have to revise my answer because IMHO my Vintage Inspired Alphabet Flash Card Notebooks are the weirdest. Cute but weird.

The Kraft paper pages are scraps from another project. The cards and the patterned paper that I used for the covers were just taking up room in my stash so I think you might call this  a leftover project.

Seriously folks, how weird is it that a person would decide that what the world needs are assorted Vintage Inspired Alphabet Flash Card Notebooks? They are weird and think that makes me weird too!
What's your weirdest project ever? Are you weird enough to share?
